Why this tool exists
A monthly budget can show whether planned income and expenses are broadly aligned. It may still hide the order of events inside the month. The Paycheck Budget Calculator puts those events on actual dates and highlights the projected low point, the preferred buffer, and any negative-balance period.
The aim is not to make a spending decision for the user. It is to expose the assumptions behind a decision and make the timeline easier to review.
What Payday Forecast is—and is not
It is
- a free, browser-based checking forecast;
- a way to organize income and bills by expected date;
- a temporary purchase and timing-scenario workspace;
- a local plan with an optional Excel snapshot; and
- an educational resource about paycheck cash flow.
It is not
- a bank connection or account-aggregation service;
- a comprehensive accounting or transaction-categorization platform;
- a predictor of actual bank posting behavior;
- overdraft protection or a balance guarantee; or
- financial, legal, tax, credit, or investment advice.
Product principles
Actual dates over generic buckets
Expected paydays and bill dates drive the timeline. The forecast extends beyond the next deposit so a later low point remains visible.
Uncertainty stays visible
Unknown everyday spending, unresolved transactions, incomplete inputs, and stale balances are not silently converted into confident recommendations.
Financial inputs stay out of a backend
The current application stores a saved plan in the user’s browser and performs calculations there. It does not require an account or send the plan to a Payday Forecast database. The Privacy Policy explains the limits of that design, including same-origin third-party scripts.
Education should stand on its own
The guides are written to answer a useful question even if a reader never opens the calculator. Examples are fictional, and unsupported promises or invented statistics do not belong in the content.
How to use the site
Start directly with the calculator, read the calculation methodology, or browse the paycheck budgeting guides. The homepage is an introduction, not a required entry step.
